Legal aid & other funding
The ethos of Wilkins Solicitors is to try to serve all members of the community whatever their financial situation. If your case is a family matter it may qualify for Legal Aid and we will be able to offer you advice through public funding. We can also sometimes assist with Legal Aid if you are being sued or in relation to other civil matters. We can advise you about this when we see you.
You can use the Legal Aid Calculator to see if you are eligible financially for Legal Aid, but please be aware that this does not guarantee that you will get Legal Aid as it only checks your financial circumstances and therefore only acts as a guide.
In Personal Injury matters although there is very rarely legal aid available, we offer "no win no fee" agreements and can sometimes also assist through legal expenses insurance which you may even have without knowing it. So you should never be concerned about the cost of seeing your solicitor when seeking advice about a Personal Injury case.
In other cases where you may not qualify for legal aid we will either give you a fixed estimate (for example in relation to wills or residential conveyancing) or will provide you with a budget for your legal costs not to be exceeded without your agreement. In the family department we offer special reduced rates for private disputes concerning children.
